VBG Truck Equipment’s success can be attributed to a combination of product innovation and excellence, customer focus, adaptability, and a dedicated team.

Can you highlight some important milestones or achievements of VBG Truck Equipment?

 supports drivers during trailer coupling and provides warnings for jackknifing. This feature is an addition to our CAN-based Electrical Infrastructure.

R&D has, as far as we are aware, introduced the first Cobot in a HIL test rig to automate testing. That simulates e.g. a truck moving towards a stationary trailer or a jackknifing event. Test scripts or trace item files are automatically generated from SystemWeaver.

How does SystemWeaver support agile methods or approaches in VBG Truck Equipment's project management?

 plays a crucial role in maintaining quality and traceability, even when implementing Agile methods. By consistently updating requirements based on new insights and directions from our Agile work, we gain visibility into how changes affect decomposition, derived requirements, and corresponding test cases. At this year’s AUTOSAR Open Conference in Bruges, SystemWeaver will present a detailed, real-world design case for our AUTOSAR-compliant Immobilizer Manager (IMMO). The session focuses on the technical decisions, architectural flows, and compliance mechanisms used in developing an embedded system that meets the demands of functional safety, cybersecurity, and ASPICE process maturity within a modern SDV context.

As automotive software grows more complex, aligning development practices with international standards is essential. In this session, we will demonstrate how to manage this complexity with a system-level approach that supports both AUTOSAR platforms.

1. System and Software Architecture for an AUTOSAR IMMO ECU


We will walk through the structure and decomposition of a fully featured Immobilizer Manager, including its integration with key modules such as key status monitoring, clamp control, steering lock, and central locking systems. The architecture enables secure communication with other ECUs and HMI components through standardized AUTOSAR services.

2. Compliance Integration at the Design Level


The session outlines how ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, and ASPICE requirements influence system design. We will show how safety goals, threat and hazard assessments, and diagnostic requirements are embedded into the system model early in the process to ensure compliance throughout the lifecycle.

3. Best Practices for Multi-Domain Engineering


Attendees will gain insights into managing data from multiple engineering domains, maintaining consistency across abstraction levels, and ensuring traceability between requirements, design, verification, and validation.

4. Addressing Real-World Workflow Challenges


We will discuss common industry challenges such as disconnected toolchains, legacy system integration, change management, and the overhead of documentation. The session will highlight practical approaches taken in OEM projects to improve collaboration and reduce duplication.

5. Data-Driven Design for SDV Architectures


In the SDV era, separating software development from hardware constraints is critical. We will present how centralized system modeling enables flexible feature development, version control, and collaboration across teams, while supporting continuous safety and security assurance.


This session is ideal for system engineers, ECU architects, compliance leads, and anyone responsible for aligning AUTOSAR-based development with modern safety, security, and lifecycle requirements.

After almost 20 years at SystemWeaver, I believe it can be interesting to look back and to reflect upon how we, as well as our environment, have changed over time.

Looking back, it is easy to see that the insight from the founding fathers that the introduction of software to an automotive industry where processes and development tools were based on mechanics would be a game changer was correct but that the insight was long before its time.

After initially working from within Mecel (now a part of Aptiv), SystemWeaver was created in 2000 to address the growing software problem in automotive. However, management was not yet aware of the gravity of the problem and being first in a new market isn’t necessarily an advantage for a small company.

We were fortunate to attract interest from early adaptors at both AB Volvo and Volvo Cars and thanks to this we were able to launch the world’s first System Engineering tools for Software.
